A compression spring is an open-wound helical spring that exerts a load or force when compressed. The most common and least expensive form has closed ends that are unground.
“Squared and ground” ends are used when there is a need for springs that stand upright without tipping.
The Conical spring is one form of compression spring, tapering from top to bottom in the form of a cone. It is used in preference to a typical compression spring when there are requirements for such features as small Solid Height, variable Spring Rates, better lateral stability and reduced vibration or resonance.
